Clinical hypnotherapy is proven by many research studies as an evidence-based practice. Hypnotherapy is classified as a complementary therapy which regulated by Ministry of Health in Malaysia. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that many patients suffered in Malaysia. However, there is still lack of practitioner who specialized in IBS and offer effective intervention. According to a recent study (Lindfors el at., 2012), gut-directed hypnotherapy is one of the most effective intervention for IBS related issues and the result able to sustain up to 1 year. Hi, Thanks for your comment. Symptoms of anxiety disorder can be improved by clinical hypnotherapy.
However, as a licensed clinical hypnotherapist in Malaysia, I have rule and regulation to follow. I can't promise cure or correct but I do agree that hypnotherapy can improve such disorders.
There are many meta analysis related research already proved that hypnotherapy is one of the best intervention for anxiety disorder.

It is a very interesting case study and here are my questions as follows:
    1) If Eric Liu felt significant improvement after 3 sessions does he needs to have a follow-up session after sometime or he can just simply continue by himself through self-hypnosis?
    2) What other disorders that personalized self-hypnosis method can be applied as another intervention?

      2) Insomnia, sleep related problem, depression, bipolar disorder, habit breaking, phobia, anxiety, performance anxiety and autonomic dysfunction related issues.

Very interesting article to read. I would like to know which part (electrode placement) these EEG readings show and what is the selection criteria for same?
What does the graph axes show (vertical and horizontal)?

      Hi Chetna,

I do it on Pz area (10-20 internation system). It is because Pz is very good to deal with mood related problem by increasing alpha-theta.
Graph axes show the duration and intensity of particular brainwaves.

Interesting article. I wonder if self-hypnosis in managing IBS is similar to self-help using mindfulness techniques for IBS?
    • KOO KIAN YONG (Author) 26th Nov 2015 - 5:19 PM
      Hi Peter Joh Sabatelli,

It is different as self-hypnosis involved suggestion and this is a tailored self hypnosis method which based on individual brainwaves pattern.
