This study attempts to reduce the Type-A Behavior among Industrial Workers.   Many studies have examined the Health Effects of Type-A Behavior and Job Satisfaction. The Personality Types of  individuals have been determined by many Theories and Models, e.g. the Myers-Briggs  Type Indicator (Briggs Myers and  Hauley McCauley, 1985), The Big Five Model (Costa and McCrae, 1993), Psychoticism, Extraversion and Neuroticism - PEN Model (Eysenck,1947).

The above models assume that Personality Factor has been crystallized over a period of time due to prolonged Habituation. Hence it is generally believed that Personality will remain constant. But the present study tried to explore the possibility of changing the Personality by Deliberate Self-Effort and concomitant Behavior Change. The following Behavior Technologies were administered on the sample of Industrial workers (N=51).

1.      Anger Relaxation Technique

2.      Reduction of Breathing Rate

3.      Ashwini Mudra Technique

4.      Simplified Kundalini Yoga

5.      Mahapran Dhvani

6.      Laughter Technique

7.      Creativity/ Problem Solving Skill

The present study has attempted to bring about a Behavioral Change in Type - A Behavior of the Industrial Workers.  A deliberate attempt by the Respondents of this study could help them to develop Type - B Behavior and hence reduce their Type - A Behavior.  The results of this study have shown that Behavior Change is possible by administration of the above Behavior Technology.

Key Words: ‘Type - A’ Behavior, Industrial Workers, Behaviour Technology, and Intervention techniques.

Hi very interest subject one question please!

Looking at the different modes I would like to know :To develop an understanding of the nature of those differences, that were examined the links between a region's personality and various features of its environment. For example, we find that a industry's personality is related to precipitation (places with higher precipitation have higher rates of Neuroticism), population density (dense areas are associated with higher Openness and lower Agreeableness), ethnic diversity (diversity is related to higher Openness), and a host of other findings ranging from voting behavior to health and mortality. One question that arises from this is whether the environment shapes personality, or whether people select environments that reinforce their personalities, or whether some other variable affects both personality and the other factors?

      Dear Mr. Petrus,

I am glad that you raised a valid question about the possible influence of the region's nature and the various features of its environment. The climate of the region, role of Family and Peers, Education,, Religion, Technology and even the local media may all throw some weight on the Personality.

But there are committed people who create or select environments to reinforce their own personalty characteristics and this type is called Cumulative continuity.

I being a medical doctor can share the fact that modifying Type A behavior can reduce heart attacks. A Federally financed study of more than 800 men who had suffered heart attacks has demonstrated for the first time that counseling to reduce characteristics of ''Type A'' behavior can cut in half the chances of suffering another attack.
After three years of psychological guidance to curb the sense of urgency, competitiveness and easily aroused hostility characteristic of Type A's, 9 percent of the men had recurrent attacks, in contrast to 19 percent of a similar group who were given only standard cardiological advice about diet, exercise and therapies.

      Dear Dr. Khan,

I am extremely glad to read your very positive and factual comment on may paper. Heart attacks and great stress come easily to Type A People and it is not good for their health to be high on their Type A scale.

The Solutions mentioned in my paper has produced significant results in the reductions of Type A behavior and enhanced their health and life style. Thank you once again for your very valuable information.

    Dear Dr Baria,
Thank you sir for your valuable comments and questions.
I have taken up only one main factor of Type A Personality or Behavior in this paper. It is because Type A people
are more competitive, outgoing, ambitious, impatient and/or aggressive and have a greater chance of developing coronary heart disease, in addition to Smoking and Drinking. Hence my paper suggests ways of reducing these evils by reduction of Type A Behavior using the given Intervention techniques.
However these carefully selected Behavior Technology Intervention techniques are very powerful remedies for all the cases and circumstances you have mentioned without any doubt.
