Topic: Education

The use of eLearning is changing teaching and learning processes from the sage on the stage to the guide on the side approach. Students can easily access their study materials on an eLearning platform regardless of time and space through digital means. In this research, Post Graduate students of the College of Distance Education (CoDE) of the university of Cape Coast, offering Business and Education programmes were assessed on their readiness for the use of the College of Distance Education’s eLearning platform. A total number of 60 students enrolled for the 2015-2016 Academic Year using the eLearning platform were sampled for the study. A questionnaire was administered to all of the students to assess their perceived self efficacy in the use of ICT tools, their attitude towards eLearning and the perceived barriers to the use of an eLearning platform. Research findings showed that most students had a positive attitude towards the use of ICT tools and were ready to use the eLearning platform .

Key words: eLearning, sage on the stage, guide on the side, readiness, attitude, self efficacy

    1. Is the questionnaire validated? if not, was there any pilot testing done?
    2. I am looking for more compare and contrast studies in your with regards to your objectives.
    3. Any limitation of your study?

      Thanks Doc for the comments.......
I did a literature search on used validated questionnaires and had this one that captured the variables in my work so I tested it with another Post graduate group.I administered it in the same way it was previously done to Post graduate students at the Accra Institute of Technology who were also offering business and education programmes also using an eLearning platform. With regards to the limitations, due to time and constraints the questionnaire was administered to the only selected Post graduate students in the college but a larger sample would have been ideal.

    have some few comemnts
Please can you check the caption of the bar chart presented i guess Figure 1.
(i would rather listen to a lecture than read the material from a computer screen) i think this caption appears twice on the bar chart and i think you should check it . It appears on top of the graph and below as well .
I think you can make it this way
Figure 1. ................................................................................................................................ Then you caption the graph. Thank you

Hi Valentina Arkorful and Nelly Abaidoo
E-learning could be the solution to the many challenges facing distance education institutions and students as well. However, there are a chain of events that can mare the beauty of e-learning in distance education institutions especially in developing countries. A significant number of students lack the technical know-how on the use of computers. We still have a significant number of communities where there is no electricity, or communication networks and these are essential elements for the smooth running of e-learning activities. The use of a questionnaire alone in a study of this nature may not be bad. However, in my opinion an interview session would have helped to elicit more genuine responses since some students tend to lie to cover up their inadequacies.

Hello Madam, nice hearing from you.
Yes I do Agree that a mixed method research would have helped to elicit more genuine responses .Would have to consider that next time. Thanks a lot
