Title: An Approach of Implementing Application as a Service (AaaS) Solution with Open Source Applications

Article Number: EC2/2015/145

Authors: Shahed Murshed and Mobarak Hossain

Topic: Computer Science

Application as a Service (AaaS) is a service component of Cloud computing that falls in the category Software as a Service (SaaS).  This paper presents an Application as a Service (AaaS) model using Open Source applications for File Sync, Share and Email solution for organizations. The proposed model enables the organizations to manage all computing resources involved totally by the service provider or by the company itself and the applications are facilitated as service on demand. The target group of the model developed is small organizations running in private cloud environment. We analyzed the common requirements of small scale organizations and that triggered us to develop an AaaS Service model with Open Source applications. This approach enables the organizations easy migration with minimal effort and with least cost.

    dear Shahed Murshed sir,

i appreciate this type of study in wide range and every where if possible....good work..

How migration will be minimal effort and with least cost? please elaborate on this.

Thank you for the complement. When we mention its possible with minimal effort we consider that the organization already has an IT Network. Therefore, not much effort is required on network setup but to work on applications selection and provisioning. As all the applications are opensource so no expenses are involved on software side. Also that the organization has IT infrastructure already running, so there is no requirement of purchasing much hardware.

Dear Dr. Baria, Thank you for your attention on our solution. The is links provided in the reference list for information on opensource applications being considered. Detail information are available there on how they work and also on installation process. Schematic diagrams are discussed as well. The solution developed has been implemented already for Quantum Foundation where the number of users are approximately 100,000 in the network. So, it is a proven solution. Please email me to for any specific query.
